Hiring the right contractor with the right credentials, knowledge, experience and expertise is key to removing an underground oil tank.
We were contacted by an LSRP for an environmental consulting firm via Linkin for a job at a trucking depot in Dayton, NJ. It had two large underground tanks that needed to be removed, one was a 10,000 gallon tank that held gasoline, one was a 20,000 gallon tank that held diesel and a canopy above the tanks that needed to be demolished as well.
We were awarded the project out of several candidates. Upon commencement of the project prior to we had the remaining gasoline and diesel pumped out of the tanks. Once the tanks were properly ventilated, they were cut open, cleaned out and disposed of with a metal recycler. The non-metal parts of the canopy demo were dispatched to the local landfill, the concrete and asphalt were brought to a close by recycler.
We completed the project by backfilling with certified clean fill using a trench roller to achieve the necessary compaction and restoring the asphalt.
