We were contacted by a homeowner in Jersey City that was in the process of getting her home ready for sale. They were in need of an oil tank removal.
They had switched to natural gas years before but had never removed the underground oil tank.
After applying for the permit, we mobilized to the site with the necessary labor and equipment to remove the tank. We found that the tank was partially under the sidewalk in front of the home but were able to remove it without disturbing the sidewalk.
Unfortunately it was loaded with holes and a contamination soil remediation needed to be done, which did result in having to remove a couple of sections of the sidewalk.
The remediation went quickly and easily, there was only one truckload of soil that needed to be disposed of and once the soil results came back under limits from inside the excavation, we restored the sidewalk.
